Although most of the Sega Ages 2500 library is forgettable at best, Sega kicked ass with this restoration of the ST-V powered beat 'em up classic Dynamite Deka (AKA Die Hard Arcade). The reason being is that Sega went to great measures in enhancing the game's look and unlockable features to take use of the Playstation 2's extra power. All without compromising on the game itself. An updated version of SEGA's classic rail shooter Panzer Dragoon in which you take to the skies atop your trusty Dragoon (which flies in a fixed path) and shoot at enemies that come at you from all directions. A remake of the one-on-one 3D fighting game Fighting Vipers for the PS2. Fighting Vipers uses the same gameplay mechanics as Virtua Fighter but aims for a more distinctly arcade feel by loosing some of the gameplay depth in favor of speed and gimmicks such as two-piece armors that can be knocked off and destructible arena walls which can cause added damage as well as spectacular effects. For the PS2 remake SEGA once again emulated their Model2 hardware under the PS2 to ensure an arcade perfect conversion, including the ability to run the game at 60fps or at 57.96fps (the actual speed of the original arcade version). Celebrating its tenth anniversary, Last Bronx returns to home consoles in completely emulated form under the SEGA AGES label. Alien Syndrome is a remake of SEGA's classic alien blaster for its 3D AGES label. In the game, an alien threat has seized your spaceship and your mission consists of escaping the doomed vessel by clearing each section until you get to the escape pod in standard top-down sidescroller fashion. As you progress through the starship you'll find other survivors of the alien onslaught whom you must rescue in order to get vital items and aid. You'll need all the help you can get, as a time bomb also threatens to destroy you if you don't leave fast enough. Fortunately for this remake (which incorporates 3D graphics and newly arranged music) you also get full dual-analog controller support which allows for independent movement and firing directions, as well as 2-player co-op gameplay as added features and to animated cutscenes between levels. A conversion of the update to Virtua Fighter 4, Evo features two brand new characters (Goh Hinogami and Brad Burns) and Quest Mode, an all new addition to the series that replaces Kumite mode. Blood Will Tell is an action game where the player controls Hyakkimaru, a man whose body parts were stolen by demons when he was a child. His destiny is to reclaim each of his body parts, which allow him to increase his stats such as HP and power, as well as optional special functions (for example, the eye displays the game in colour, while the vocal chords allow him to speak). Hyakkimaru wields a sword, which can be used to attack enemies - he can also swap for his two smaller swords concealed within his arms. As he uses the swords, they level up and increase in power. Hyakkimaru can also charge up a sword attack, and if released at the correct time, is given the opportunity to enter a series of button presses for combos. If the enemy is killed during this combo, the player can perform a finishing move with the Triangle button which can yield bonus items ranging from health items to swords. One can certainly call Sega an eclectic game company without any hesitation. It tries different things, and...it gets atypical results. Take for instance, arcade-style 18-wheeler driving. Who would have thought that driving an 18-wheeler would be so much damn fun? In the arcades it's a visceral, horn-blowing blast.         Instantly recognizable, due in part to the unique visual style of TRIGUN's Yasuhiro Naito, Gungrave casts players as Grave, an enigmatic, double-gun wielding anti-hero forged in much the same spirit as Todd McFarlane's Spawn character.
